How the alpacas keep cool in summer

What do the alpacas like to do when it’s hot out? Take a long cold shower of course! This here is Cocoabean who, along with her pal Honeybun, just love to be sprayed with lots of cold water on the necks, backs and legs on hot summer days 😀 #hotneck #alpacasofinstagram #johnmuiralpacas #sunnydunny #johnmuirway #tourismscotland […]

The Scottish Fairy Festival with winged alpacas!

On the 8th June the alpacas we were lucky enough to be invited to the very 1st Scottish Fairy Festival, at Archerfield Walled Garden 🧚‍♂️🧚‍♂️🧚‍♂️ Of course the boys couldn’t resist the invitation to get into their special fairy gear for the day and show off their shiny wings! And what a day it was, they […]

May the 4th be with you!

Having a very special and quite handsome alpaca on our team called Chewpaca (aka Chewy) we felt it was only appropriate to wish you a happy Star Wars day and say, May the 4th be with you! Chewy is just a young alpaca at only 1 year old, but he quickly settled into the herd […]

Watch our video!

Here is a short video we made of the alpacas settling in at their lovely new home, and enjoying some of their first walks around the beautiful countryside.

Glasshouse Wedding!

We were asked by bride to be Juliette, if the alpacas would make a special appearance at the Glasshouse in Edinburgh, to surprise her wedding guests. This would involve them going up in a lift to the lawned deck on the roof of the Playhouse! We weren’t too sure if the alpacas would refuse to […]

We are thrilled to be able to announce the opening of John Muir Alpacas! Thanks to the lovely folks at Tyne-Esk LEADER who have lent their support for this wonderful and rewarding project in the form of setup advise and a grant! Our alpaca project has been in development for just over 9 months now, and the […]

Bridge training!

We’re really getting the hang of this trekking business now! There’s not much that fazes the boy on our walks, except for the odd barking dog and their irrational fear of bridges! So I’ve had them all in bridge training for the last few months. It’s been quite a challenge but we’ve cracked it!

Shearing Day!

We had great fun learning how to shear our alpacas today, it’s not as easy as it looks though! I’m a trained hair stylist so it goes without saying, I’m a dab hand with a pair of clippers and my husbands new job is to hold the alpacas still, whilst their having their haircuts! These […]
